🧍 The strain ATCC 35683, designated as the type strain of Campylobacter cinaedi by Totten et al. 1985 [1] and as the type strain of Helicobacter cinaedi by Vandamme et al. 1991 [2], is not the type strain of Helicobacter cinaedi. It is a strain of Helicobacter fennelliae (Campylobacter fennelliae) [3, 4, 5, 6]. The origin of the strain ATCC 35683 remains unknown. According to P. Vandamme [6] and to S.L.W. On [7], if the origin of this strain cannot be confirmed, it should be withdrawn from distribution.
